Literature Text

(reader, first-person)

My conversation with Thor was cut off when a guard came to retrieve Thor. Apparently he had to meet with his father for something. This left Loki and I alone again. Strangely, he seemed in a significantly better mood than before. He stood from his chair and walked over to me.

"You're going to need different clothes for the feast tonight," he said. "I sent for a handmaiden so she can help you."

"What is the occasion of the feast?" I asked, hoping that it wasn't because they had a 'guest'.

"We feast every night. It's normal here." He walked to the door of his room. "I will return when you're done getting ready."

*~*

(Loki's POV)

It had been a while since I left (your name) to get ready. When I saw the handmaiden leave, I stood and knocked on the door. It may have been my room but I didn't want to just walk in on her.

"Come in," I heard her voice call. When I walked in, my breath hitched. She was beautiful, dressed in a green dress (www.wintersdresses.com/images/…) and simple gold jewelry. Her (hair color) hair was in a half updo that perfectly complimented her face. (If you have super short hair, you just look really pretty ^^). I knew I had chosen the right handmaiden to prepare her.
I had to admit she looked beautiful, for a Midgardian. Still...it bothered me. I didn't want to admit it...but I was becoming aware of what exactly I have been feeling for a while.

(reader, first-person)

I saw Loki staring at me and couldn't help but to blush and look away. "Please don't stare..." I mumbled, embarrassed. He sighed.

"Come on, the feast has already started." He turned abruptly and walked out the door. I followed, slightly confused by his actions since he came back in here, but tried brushing it off. It didn't really matter. I hardly understood why I was here anyway. I know Loki had said something about being attracted to me... I felt a blush rise on my cheeks as I thought about it. That couldn't be the only reason though...he wouldn't bring a simple Midgardian with him to Asgard unless...there had to be something more. It was driving me crazy, trying to figure it out.

I would just have to go along with it. He hadn't done anything to hurt me, so I may as well enjoy being here while I still can. I mean...I was staying in the palace of Asgard! I was going to a feast with royalty! This was a once-in-a-lifetime event. I was going to make the most of it!

Before I knew it, we were standing in a corridor on a lower level. I could hear laughing and talking from down the hall. Loki looked at me. "Take my arm," he ordered. I complied, placing my hand in the crook of his elbow as he led me into the large dining hall.

"There she is!" I heard Thor's voice. He was sitting with three men and a woman, all whom looked like warriors. He got up and strode over, taking my hand and practically dragging me over to his companions. "(your name), meet Lady Sif and the Warriors Three: Fandral, Volstagg, and Hogun."

I smiled politely and exchanged greetings with them, but I felt uncomfortable being put on the spot, even to such a small group of people. Loki came over and cleared his throat. I looked at him and he was glaring at Thor. He soon tore his gaze away from his brother and back to me. "I would like you to meet someone," he said before taking my hand and leading me over to a beautiful woman. "This is Queen Frigga, All-Mother of Asgard, as well as my mother. Mother, this is (your name), a Midgardian I brought here as my guest."

"I heard about you. You are welcome here," she said to me, with a friendly smile. I smiled and curtsied a bit awkwardly.

"It's an honor to meet you," I said. Before she or I said anything more, Loki once again led me away, to a couple of seats at the table. I sat down in one and he in another.

"That's pretty much it for who you need to know for now. I won't be the one to introduce you to my father, should you ever meet him."

I only nodded in reply. Everything was just...completely overwhelming. Amazing, yes, but overwhelming all the same. I guess that's what comes with such great experiences. As I got lost in thought, the main course was served.

*~*

I yawned. Dinner was over and I followed Loki out of the hall. "So, uhm...where am I going to sleep?" I asked him.

He stopped in his tracks and turned to me. His face was pale. He must not have thought about that. "You didn't provide a place for me to sleep, did you?" I asked, a little bit of annoyance in my tone. Despite all he did for me, I didn't want to end up sleeping on the floor of his room or something. Surely he could arrange for a room at last minute's notice?

"I'm sorry, (your name), I didn't. I can provide for a place for you by tomorrow night, but for tonight you'll have to stay in my chambers."

I blushed. I had to sleep in the same room as him... This wasn't going to work for me. Still, I just nodded. "Very well."

He began to walk to his room again, and I followed. "You can have the bed. I won't get tired so I can stay up reading or something," he said. We came across a maid and he stopped her. "You, girl! Bring this lady a sleeping gown to my room immediately."

"Yes, my prince," she said, keeping her head low as she passed. I frowned.

"Are they all timid like that?"

Loki shrugged. "At least around me, they are." What he said made me want to both laugh and grimace, so I settled for a scoff. "You think it's funny?"

"Yes, and a bit ridiculous."

"Why is it ridiculous?"

"Well, I don't see anything scary about you. I mean, yeah, you're a prince and all, but you're not scary..."

I regretted what I said when he suddenly had me against the wall, his lips very close to my ear. "Oh, you have no idea how scary I can be, (your name)," he said in a low tone, almost a growl. But his closeness was gone as fast as it had come, and I was momentarily frozen. What the Hell had I gotten myself in to?? "Aren't you coming?" he asked, looking impatient. I didn't know what else to do, so I just continued to follow him again, although feeling more wary than before. I may have been over-thinking things, but he seemed to take my comment as a challenge, which filled me with uneasiness.

(Loki POV)

I mentally beat myself up when I realized what I had just done. Here I am, just realizing something like affection for her, and I went and scared her! Not to mention I was out of line, anyway. If she deserved anything, it would have been a sarcastic remark... I sighed to myself as we walked. I would have to eventually make up for that...

(reader, first person)

When we finally got to Loki's chambers, he did not enter. "There should be bedclothes in there already," he said. "Change before I come in, but be quick about it."

I went inside and he closed the door behind me. Laid out on the bed was a simple white, ankle-length nightshift. I changed into it and then let Loki in, feeling awkward all the while. He came in silently and gestured to the bed. "Go ahead, I won't bother you" he said, using his magic to remove all light in the room besides a lone candle at the desk. I sighed and gave in, crossing to the bed and crawling in under the covers.

I didn't regret it at all. The bed was the most comfortable thing I had ever felt! I felt myself drifting off already, it was so soft. Before falling into the abyss we call sleep, I felt the bed shift.

I will kill you if you even THINK about sharing a bed with me.
